Children's Health & Wellbeing the Natural Way

Our children need more active nutritional, dietary, health and lifestyle support now than at any other time in history. Just like 'Canaries in the coal mine', our kids are at the effect of an environment and food chain that leaves a lot to be desired in the support of health, growth and development.  A regular nutritional review is essential for every child, regardless of age.

Tweens - Teens - Adolescents

As children move into puberty and adolescence, this is the perfect time to support their hormonal development and maturation. Parents soon learn that as an adolescent's brain undergoes a process of remodelling, the centres responsible for planning, listening, and executive functioning disappear, leaving you with a moody, forgetful, foggy youth on your hands. This is the ideal time to give the brain the nutrients it is demanding in high quantities, and in doing so, you can influence the intelligence of your adult-to-be.

Common issues with tweens and teens include :

  • skin problems - acne, eczema, bumps, lumps, boils, cysts, skin tags, blackheads

  • mood swings

  • memory issues

  • motivation deficiency

  • sleep disturbances

  • sore ankles or knees

  • muscle aches

  • "growing pains"

  • headaches, migraines

  • menarche (first period), menstrual pain, heaviness, irregular periods

  • ovarian cysts

  • weight gain, obesity

  • hypothyroid, hyperthyroid, adrenal fatigue

  • bloating, tummy trouble, wind, flatulence ++++

  • constipation, diarrhoea, noisy tummy

  • immune depletion, frequent colds, flu

  • glandular fever, epsteine barr virus, cytomegalo virus

  • chronic fatigue

  • difficulty getting up, sleep problems

  • anxiety, depression, melancholy

  • low self esteem, low confidence

There is so much change afoot for our emerging young adults, and an abundant resources of nutrients are essential to make this time a strong opportunity for growth and development. With Australian soils being so depleted of minerals and other nutrients, and adolescence being more inclined to reach for fast food, soft drinks, caffeinated beverages and empty calories, nutritional guidance and support help to shore up their needs so their body's growth can be smooth, regulated and strong.

Regular nutritional and dietary check ins help make this transition as smooth as possible for parents and kids alike. Kids moving through this tenuous phase of life start to value the opinions of others over their parents, so having a good relationship with another adult who has their health and wellbeing at heart, can really help them make wiser choices about what they eat, drink, think and do.

Pyrroles

Pyrrole disorder (also known as pyroluria, kryptopyroluria, kryptopyrole or Mauve disorder) is a biochemical imbalance involving an abnormality in haemoglobin synthesis, which affects the way the body makes available nutrients which are essential for many pathways in the body, most especially those affecting mood, nerve and brain function. Pyrrole Disorder can lead to enhanced mental, emotional and physical stress, as it disrupts neurochemicals like serotonin (happy nerutoransmitter), melatonin (sleep and body clock), GABA (for relaxation and calm), and acetyl choline which is important for memory and protection of the nerves. Depletion of essential nutrients also lead to issues with the production of steroid hormones such as cortisol (anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy and stress regulation hormone) as well as the metabolism of oils in the body (affecting fat metabolism, liver and gall bladder function and weight control). Pyrrole itself is an oxidative free-radical, which can exert a toxic effect on the body, cells and nerves

TIC DISORDER - OCD - SUDDEN BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES

POST INFECTIOUS BRAIN INFLAMMATION - PANS - PANDAS

According to NIMH, as many as 1 in 200 children in the US may suffer from PANDAS/PANS, which is a post-infectious autoimmune encephalitis caused by Streptococcus.

A child may be diagnosed with PANDAS/PANS when OCD, tic disorder, and/or other symptoms appear (or become worse) following a strep infection, such as strep throat or scarlet fever.

PANDAS is a pediatric disorder which typically appears from age 3 to puberty..

PANDAS is short for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. A child may be diagnosed with PANDAS when:

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorder, or both suddenly appear following a streptococcal (strep) infection, such as strep throat or scarlet fever.

  • The symptoms of OCD or tic symptoms suddenly become worse following a strep infection.

The symptoms are usually dramatic, happen “overnight and out of the blue,” and can include motor or vocal tics or both and obsessions, compulsions, or both. In addition to these symptoms, children may become moody or irritable, experience anxiety attacks, or show concerns about separating from parents or loved ones.

Family Health

The health of the family supports the health of the individuals within the family.  What you eat together, the habits you have, filter through to become the habits your children may well adopt across their lifetime.

A family health and wellness program gives us a chance to test each member of the family and then put together an integrated program that supports everyone, streamlined so you can do it together.

A family program begins with an initial consultation first for the the most in-need child, and then for the primary parent, where we will discuss the needs of the family. Together we will put together a family food and nutrient program to best support the health needs of your family.
